The Star Family Prizes for Excellence in Advising
…opens the minds of students to that knowledge
…enable students to take best advantage of their educational opportunities
Academic advisers contribute to this intellectually transformative mission by providing students with close guidance in every phase of their undergraduate careers, helping them to refine their goals and define their paths as they progress through all of their studies.
The Star Family Prizes for Excellence in Advising were established by James A. Star, AB 1983, to recognize and reward individuals who contribute to the College through their exemplary intellectual and personal guidance of undergraduate students.

- Concentration Advising - by assigned/official Concentration Advisers, both faculty and non-faculty
- Faculty Advising - by faculty who provide informal advising/mentoring to any undergraduate; or, thesis advising to seniors
